From Tim Williams Blog: The New Museum

I went there today with some friends. One artists work stood out to me. They were paintings by Tala Madani.

(mind you all my veiws are exactly that, just my veiws. Im no art connoissuer by any means)

Her paintings had a beautiful simplicity to them but at the same time explosive emotion. I feel like thats a difficult acheivement as an artist.

She touches on alot of the ‘real’ controversial aspects of society from the perspective of an Iranian woman. It was very interesting. I only wanted to touch on this topic. Check out some of her work.

From Tim Williams Blog: MJ

I havent twittered, blogged, facebooked etc since I found out about Michaels death. It was legitimately a wake up call. None of those things matter! We need to take time away from our computers and phones to appreciate our life and those around us. All legends walk a path in life as they fufill there destiny. It almost seems as though they are put on earth primarily for the influence and guidance of others. Michael had been inspiring  people all over the world since he was a child. He had the gift and the curse of being blessed with endless talents. When you idolize and look up to someone the way all of us looked up to MJ you forget that he was only human. To me thats why his death came as such a shock. It would have been a shocking tragedy no matter what age he was. It disgusts me to see the media still putting the negative aspects from MJ’s life in the fore front after he has passed. Its a blatant lack of respect for all that he has accomplished and done for our culture. I feel like “people” are going nowhere fast if we dont wake up. Are children of this time going to grow up looking up to a reality show cast?

“The extreme always makes an impression”

I pray Michael Jacksons death can be the cause of new life in our society.

God Bless you MJ and thank you for everything you did for me personally as a musician and entertainer. Im a terrible dancer but my brothers and I would always immitate you as kids and that will always be one of the most vivid memories of my childhood. Much <3

-Tim William

Gym Class Hero teaches good lessons

Travis McCoy basketball.jpgPhotos courtesy of MTV

Here’s a look at Gym Class Heroes lead singer/songwriter Travis McCoy during his recent trip to the Philippines as MTV’s new Staying Alive Special Ambassador.

McCoy - on and off boyfriend to Katy Perry - also hit South Africa and is, it seems, currently in India during a 10 day trip to visit grassroots HIV prevention projects in those countries, trying to raise awareness about youth driven HIV and AIDS prevention initiatives.

During the trip, McCoy is working on a new single inspired by his travels and the folks he meets along the way. The song will be released on December 1st - World AIDS Day.

Follow his progress here, at the UnbeatenTrack.

“It’s an honor for me to be the Ambassador for the Staying Alive Foundation - it’s a cause that’s very close to me,” McCoy said. “Having lost loved ones and seeing the toll it takes on people affected including the people that love and care for them, it’s important we do whatever can within our power to fight this deadly and rapidly spreading epidemic. I strongly feel the best cure we have at this point is increasing education and building awareness. It’s how we use this information in the choices we make that will determine whether or not our generation will help make a change or ultimately make things worse. I believe that “each one should teach one”, and if my influence on my peers and young ones that look up to me can help decide what music to listen to or what clothes to wear, I hope and pray it will help them to decide to be safe and take their life seriously.”

Hit the jump for more pictures.

From Travie's Blog: Hector Pieterson (1964 – 16 June 1976) became the iconic image...

Hector Pieterson (1964 – 16 June 1976) became the iconic image of the 1976 Soweto uprising in apartheid South Africa when a news photograph by Sam Nzima of the dying Hector being carried by a fellow student, was published around the world. He was killed at the age of 12 when the police opened fire on protesting students. For years, June 16 stood as a symbol of resistance to the brutality of the apartheid government. Today, it is known as National Youth Day — a day on which South Africans honour young people and bring attention to their needs….

After watching the horrific video of the young woman who was shot in Tehran, it made me think a bout young Hector. Why must people die in order for us to realize how fucked up things are. I am saddened and disgusted and crying waterfalls as i type. When will it end?

SAY HELLO……to my lil’ friend. HellBoy’s “Samaritan” REVOLVER. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a huge fan of Hellboy, not just the movies but the comics as well. During my trip to Manila I found a tiny toy store and in the back, glowing like Bruce Leroy and soflty whispering three words repeatedly” Travie, Buy Me…Travie, Buy Me”etc..etc..etc…I couldn’t help my self especially considering the fact that it was being sold for almot 3/4’s less than the asking price in the states or online. I couldnt resist. I dare a motherfucker to set foot in my perimeters acting funny, you’ll be guaranteed to catch some “WHOPPERS” to the torso. Just a little wiki background on my new hand cannon: The Samaritan is an oversized, uniquely large caliber four-round revolver. It fires its custom-made bullets with adequate power to easily penetrate virtually any material. The gun itself has unearthly resistance to almost all forms of attack, and includes grips carved from fragments of the True Cross. The metal of the gun is forged from a combination of Irish church bells, cold iron from crucifixes, blessed silver, and other mystic metals.

The Samaritan only holds four of its oversized rounds, and is difficult to load with the large fingers on the Right Hand of Doom. As a result, Hellboy usually tries to load with his left hand when possible. He is only able to fire the Samaritan with his left hand, again due to the size of the fingers on his right hand.
